Prosperity POS Import
What is this?
The Prosperity import reads tab-delimited text files exported from the Prosperity point-of-sale system. It includes 13 months of individual sales history fields that fill Margin Master's standard sales history.

Location Handling
If the Location field is blank or empty, it is automatically set to "Blank" during import. This ensures every record has a location value.
How Import Works
The export file is read from the Import Path set under Tools > Options > Miscellaneous:
- Export your inventory and sales data from Prosperity as a tab-delimited
.txtfile. - Place the file in the configured import folder.
- Margin Master reads the file and loads the data into its database.
- The main table build joins your POS data with vendor catalog data.
Troubleshooting
| Symptom | Likely cause | What to do |

| No Files Found when you choose Get POS Data | The export is not in the Import Path (Tools > Options > Miscellaneous), or its name does not match the pattern above | Check the path and the file name; Margin Master reads only the current folder, not sub-folders |
| The same file is imported again and again | The previous import's file was not renamed | After a successful import the file is renamed to NAME[ext].BAK; a file that keeps its name did not import - read the error dialog |
| 0 records or far fewer than expected | The export covers the wrong store, or the store is not matched in the Store Manager | Open Store Manager and check the store's row; re-export from the point of sale |
| Columns land in the wrong fields | The export layout changed | Compare the file's header row with Fields above; contact Margin Master support with the file |

Every import failure shows one error dialog; the log under File > Utilities > Show Log Files has the detail to send to support.
Tips
Prosperity uses tab-delimited files, not comma or pipe. Make sure your export is configured for tab separation.
Blank location values are automatically converted to "Blank" -- you do not need to fill these in before importing.
The 13 monthly sales fields (Sales_Current_Month through Sales_12_Month_Ago) provide a full rolling year of sales history for Margin Master's analysis features.
Common Questions
Q: My Prosperity export has blank locations for many items. Is that a problem? A: No. Blank locations are automatically converted to the text "Blank" during import. This is normal for items that do not have assigned bin locations.
Q: How does the Retail field differ from the current price? A: They are the same value. The Prosperity export calls it "Retail" and Margin Master uses it as the current retail price, converted to the correct numeric format during import.
Q: Does Prosperity support competitor pricing? A: No. The Prosperity export format does not include competitor price fields. Only the 23 fields listed above are imported.
