MARGIN_MASTER — Ace Catalog File
What is this file?
The MARGIN_MASTER file is the primary Ace Hardware catalog file. It contains the core product attributes for every SKU in the Ace catalog — descriptions, departments, vendor information, and pricing strategy codes. This file is the foundation of the Ace data pipeline; zone pricing and other supplemental files reference the SKUs established here.

How Margin Master Uses It
This file supplies each Ace item's department, merchandise class, product group, pricing strategy code, vendor number and name, DOM/RDOM, velocity code and the Discovery factors (Conv, Nbr, Sup, Ult) shown in the main grid. An item found in the catalog is marked as a vendor item; an item that is not is marked as a non-vendor item.
- Pricing strategy code: only the first character of PS is used. If PS is blank, it defaults to
X. - Velocity code: a blank velocity code defaults to
X. - Duplicate SKUs: if the file contains the same SKU more than once, only the first occurrence is kept.
- Removed SKUs are marked as deleted rather than being erased.
